Day 3: Don’t let your eyes go SQUARE…get some fresh AIR!

So I am noticing my anxiety level increase as I realize the repercussions of being in front of the screen all day. I’ve been studying for my online Person Training Specialist course all day, while being side tracked by many other computer related things…including writing this post! I don’t have time to get my charger and laptop from my place before yoga class, and I have to head straight to Point Roberts after that for dinner. As it stands, I already  wont be there until 9pm. So it looks like I wont have any technology for about 24hrs!!!

Then, as I take a moment to breathe, I realize how much my body is craving fresh air and my brain needs a break from screen time. It’s so easy to get caught up in this rapidly growing, virtual to-do list. Yes, much of our income, education, lifestyle and career goals require various amounts of time spent online; however, we need to occasionally take a break! I know that’s what I need right now. So, I’m going to breathe through this anxiety, let go of the things I think I need to do in technology-land over the next 24hrs, and spend some quality time OUTSIDE.

Here is a suggestion for going on a purposeful walk in nature: Walk outside, breathing in the fresh air, as you slowly let go of your racing thoughts and come into the present moment. Here you will begin to hear your heart. Follow it to wherever it wants to go. Come to a place in nature (tree, rock, patch of grass, insect, etc) that feels just right and you feel calm and relaxed. Become aware of all your senses.  Then ask, from your heart, “What do I need, right here, right now?” Listen with you eyes, skin, mouth, nose and ears. See what comes to you as you enjoy being in the moment, in nature, and in your heart…

I am remembering how important activities like this are for health, happiness, humour and hope. I can lead you more in depth on many of these kinds of activities, so contact me for more details.

If you’re reading this right now, you are probably in the same boat as me…

So let’s go get some fresh AIR!

Yes Aunt June! I had a beautiful walk along the ocean today that included rejuvenation of the soul AND vitamin D intake! Great to hear that you and Peter get out lots. That explains why you are both so young in body, mind and heart! 🙂
