What are your hidden passions? We all have them. You know the ones- they’re like a fire of ideas that keeps burning at your heart, and your mind finds ways to stifle them with a plethora of excuses. Maybe you’ve always wanted to take dance or fitness classes, express yourself through poetry or painting, learn to ski or kayak, or practice yoga or qigong. You proceed to tell yourself you have no time, money or talent and it is just a silly little dream. If your heart is nagging at you with pangs of desire for a new activity or way of being, it’s as REAL as it gets!
So now’s the time, today’s the day…get out and try something new! Here are some suggestions of ways to overcome the obstacles that your mind keeps telling you are in the way:
- Discount and coupon sites are popping up left, right and centre as a way of offering the community inexpensive ways to try new things. All Daily Deals, LivingSocialDeals, Team Buy and Groupon are all links to these sites. They offer highly discounted rates for a plethora of different activities.
- Many yoga and dance studios offer special first time rates, such as 2 weeks of unlimited yoga for $30. This gives you the chance to try it out and see if you like it before forking out tons of money. My friend Yoko and I are starting 2 weeks at Bikram Yoga Burnaby so that we can cleanse, stretch and strengthen our muscles, and spend more time together!
- You will find that once you begin engaging in your passions, your time, resources and energy for other things begins to flow more freely. Perhaps it is because you are doing what you love and your happy heart is cooperating. Or perhaps it is as Paulo Coelho writes in his book The Alchemist– “when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
- If you have a specific yearning for a new activity, contact me or post it in the comments section below. I will help you to achieve your heart’s dreams!
Now go say YES to something new!
